Q. What is a copywriter?
Copywriters write the words - for your website, brochure, newsletter, sales letter, newspaper or magazine ad.
Q. Why do I need a copywriter?
Some business people struggle to write their own copy. A professional copywriter can target your audience, improve your response rate, and increase the overall professionalism of your business communication.
Q. What if I need graphic design, web design, or printing?
We work alongside graphic designers, web designers and printers. We can take your project from concept to finished product.
Q. Who does the graphics and layout for ads?
There are three options:
1. We can use the printer's in-house graphic designer.
2. We can work alongside your preferred graphic designer.
3. We can supply a graphic designer for your project.
As a general rule, your previous experience and budgetary constraints will determine the best option for you.
Q. I have my own graphic designer/web designer/printer. Can I still use them?
Yes. We're happy to work your graphic designers, web designers and printers.
Q. What do you charge?
We charge by the hour. Our fee depends on how long the job will take. It's best to call us or email us with your project specification, so we can give you a fixed price.
Q. What's included in your price?
For brochures, websites and ads, our fee includes:
- Briefings/meetings
- Research
- Copywriting
- Two sets of revisions
- Travel, and office overheads
- Liaison with a graphic designer
*Please be aware that if you require more than two sets of revisions, or if the Brief changes drastically, you will be notified. We can re-quote, or alternatively, charge at our hourly rate.

Q. What information do you need to provide a quote?
For an accurate quote we require: A brief project overview, any deadline requirements, and an approximate word length. Also, we'll need to know how much information you'll be able to supply and how much research we'll need to do (ie: all, most, half, some, none).
Q. What information do you need to start my job?
Before we start a project, we create a detailed brief. Some of the questions we need answered include:
- what does your company/business do?
- what is your product or service?
- who are your customers and target market?
- what features and benefits will your product/service provide?
- your offer?
- your call to action?
The Client Brief is a crucial part of the process. It ensures we give both you and your intended customer exactly what they want.
Q. When can you start?
Generally within two weeks. However, if you require something urgent, we're usually able to accommodate. The start and finish date will be agreed to by both parties before a project commences.
Q. How long will it take?
That depends on the size of the job. For instance:
- a website audit can be completed in 2-3 days
- a single website page depends on the amount of research and info provided, say 2-5 days
- a D/L brochure (A4 size, folded in thirds) may take 2-4 weeks, for the copy to be approved by you.
If you're on a tight deadline or require urgent copywriting, we're happy to accelerate the process. The turn-around time revolves around your requirements and needs.
We will make clear any time specific obligations (ie - receive or review information) required on your part for the job to be completed on time, and on budget.
Q. Can I suggest changes to your copy?
We actively encourage your participation and feedback. Our price includes two sets of revisions. However, if we consider a change unwise, we will advise you as such, and leave the final decision to you.
Q. Do we need to meet in person?
We prefer to have at least two meetings in person - at least until we build-up a professional understanding. However, most of our correspondence can be conducted over the phone, or via email. If you'd prefer less or more contact, we're happy to accommodate you.
Q. Is my project too small?
Probably not! Even small projects can benefit from thoughtful and targeted copy.
Q. Is my project too big?
At present, we're not equipped to manage advertising campaigns worth millions of dollars. If your campaign requires extensive TV advertising and Formula One sponsorship, we're probably not the right agency for you.
Q. Do you also do editing?
Yes. Some clients prefer to write their own copy. We simply refine and edit their work. This can be a great option if you enjoy the writing aspect, or if you're on a really tight budget.
Q. How do I pay you?
We accept cheques, or you can pay directly into our bank account.
You will be invoiced a day or two after you approve the copy. Payment is due 21 days after the final draft being approved.
We can advise you of our payment options with our fixed price quote.
Q. Can you help me with copyright?
No. Copyright refers to legal ownership and is unrelated to copywriting.
Q. What are your 'green' credentials?
We embrace the "reduce, re-use & recycle" philosophy.
Leigh worked for three years as a professional Building Sustainability Consultant. We use 100% 'Green' power and gas. We also embrace energy efficient light globes and water saving shower-heads - alongside other standard office waste minimisation efforts.
The business shares one car. Whenever possible we walk, cycle, or take public transport. Last year, Leigh cycled over 2,000 km's - much of it work related. Significantly, our carbon dioxide emissions have been cut by over 70% compared to similar businesses.
We've embraced the 'slow' movement, especially in regards to food. Whenever possible we buy local produce, and delight in 'farmers markets'.
It's important for you to know that our projects take the same amount of time as other copywriters, and our costs are comparable. On top of this, we're also positive, healthy, and focused.
Q. Do you only deal with sustainable businesses?
Yes. We find it brings out the best in both parties to work alongside like-minded people. You inspire us, and hopefully, we inspire you!
Q. What if my business isn't sustainable?
We're not the copywriter for your business. However, if you'd like, we can recommend some very talented copywriters who would be delighted to consider your project. |
